Effective October 20, 2026
These Terms of Use govern your use of goldenstatefamilycounseling.org (the "Site"), operated by Golden State Family Counseling Center, a California nonprofit public benefit corporation. By using the Site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
Content on the Site is general information. It is not a substitute for professional mental health care, diagnosis or treatment, and it is not advice about your situation.
Reading the Site, emailing us or calling us does not create a therapist-client relationship. Care begins only after intake is completed, you have signed our Consent to Treatment and fee agreement, and we have confirmed your first appointment.
The Site, our intake email and our phone line are not monitored around the clock and must not be used in an emergency. If you or others are in immediate danger, call 911. For mental health crisis support, call or text 988.
Services are provided by secure video to clients who are physically located in California at the time of each session. Services for anyone under 18 are arranged with a parent or legal guardian, except where California law allows a minor to consent on their own.
Session fees are confirmed in writing before your first appointment, and you will receive a Good Faith Estimate. Please give at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations and missed appointments may be charged as described in your fee agreement.
Regular email and text messages are not fully secure. Please do not send detailed health information by email. Once you begin care, we will arrange a secure way to share information.
You agree not to misuse the Site, including by attempting to gain unauthorized access, interfering with its operation, sending unlawful or harassing content, or using automated tools to copy it.
The Site's text, design, logo and name belong to Golden State Family Counseling Center or are used under license. Your permission to use them is described in our License Agreement.
Links to outside websites are provided for convenience. We are not responsible for their content or practices.
The Site is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent allowed by law, Golden State Family Counseling Center, its directors, officers, staff and volunteers are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from use of the Site. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under California law that cannot be waived, or our professional responsibilities to clients in care.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California.
We may update these terms from time to time. The current version, with its effective date, is always posted on this page.
