Golden State Family Counseling Center ("we," "us," "our") is a California nonprofit public benefit corporation. This Website Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through goldenstatefamilycounseling.org (the "Site"), how we use it, and the choices you have. How we protect the health information of our clients is described separately in our Notice of Privacy Practices.
Information you give us. When you email or call us, we receive the information you choose to share, such as your name, email address, phone number, and a description of the help you are looking for.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting and security provider receives basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you request, and the date and time of your visit. This information is used to deliver the Site, keep it secure, and prevent abuse. We do not use advertising trackers, analytics profiles, tracking pixels, or social media plug-ins.
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We share information only with service providers who help us operate (for example, website hosting and email delivery) and who are required to protect it, when the law requires it, or with your permission.
Once you contact us about care, any health information you share is handled as confidential health information under federal and California law, including the California Confidentiality of Medical Information Act. Our Notice of Privacy Practices explains how it may be used and disclosed and the rights you have.
Regular email and text messages are not fully secure. Please do not send detailed health information by email. Once you begin care, we will arrange a secure way to share forms and information.
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. Appointments for children and teens are requested by a parent or legal guardian.
You may ask us what personal information we hold about you from the Site, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, subject to any records we are required by law to keep. California residents may also ask whether we share personal information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes; we do not. We honor browser "Do Not Track" and Global Privacy Control signals by default, because we do not track visitors across sites. To make a request, email [email protected].
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect information. No website or email system is completely secure. We keep website inquiries only as long as needed to respond and to meet legal requirements. Clinical records are kept as required by California law.
The Site may link to outside websites, such as government resources. Their privacy practices are their own, and we encourage you to review them.
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version, with its effective date, is always posted on this page.
